SDG&E EAST COUNTY SUBSTATION PROJECT

Built by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), the East County (ECO) Substation Project was undertaken to improve reliability and harness renewable energy generated in San Diego and Imperial Counties in order to meet projected electrical load requirements for southern California. The project involved construction of the ECO Substation, rebuilding of the existing Boulevard Substation, looping of the existing 500 kV Southwest Powerlink transmission line into the new ECO Substation, and connecting the new ECO Substation with the upgraded Boulevard Substation.

Pangea provided comprehensive environmental compliance support to SDG&E’s engineering and construction contractor, Beta Engineering.
