SCE ELDORADO TO IVANPAH TRANSMISSION PROJECT

Pangea Biological provided an environmental team to AECOM for Southern California Edison's 36-mile electric transmission construction project in San Bernardino County, California and Clark County, Nevada. The project involved the removal of a decommissioned 115 kV line and replacement with a 220 kV line, replacement of an existing substation transformer, and installation of associated telecommunication infrastructure. Pangea Biological performed the following:

  • Pre-construction surveys and work site sweeps for presence of desert tortoise

  • Biological monitoring of construction activity to prevent impacts to desert tortoise population and ensure compliance with environmental regulations

  • Nest searches during avian breeding and daily sweeps of worksites to identify new nests and bird nesting behavior, and coordinated with avian monitors to protect nesting birds

In addition, Pangea Biological's authorized desert tortoise biologists, biological monitors, and environmental inspectors submitted daily reports using SCE’s Field Reporting Environmental Database (FRED) online reporting software.

"Thank you for your tireless efforts. You should be recognized not only for your efforts yesterday, but your efforts each and every day. I have noticed during field visits that you are always on the move, working closely with the crews. Your FRED reports are also consistently well-written and thorough. We would like to recognize you for all of your great support, and encourage you to continue to perform at a high level."
